Another Gold Medal for Conde del Real Agrado

The Concours Mondial de Bruxelles, held between 2nd and 5th May, awarded a Gold Medal to the Conde del Real Agrado Crianza 2016 vintage wine (Viñedos de Alfaro winery, part of El Gaitero Group). This latest accolade adds to the award received last year for its 2015 vintage. This competition is one of the world’s leading wine events, and this year attracted around 350 experts from all five continents who assessed more than 9,000 wines from 46 countries.

Conde del Real Agrado Crianza 2016 is made from La Rioja’s four autochthonous black grape varieties: garnacha, tempranillo, mazuelo and graciano. It spends 12 months in American and French oak bottles and after bottling, remains in the cellars for a further 9 months.

This wine is deep ruby red in colour, with purple hues. It has well-structured aromas with notes of red berries and toasted hints that are characteristic of wood, as well as baked and liquorice notes.

The initial sensation in the mouth is complex, with predominant notes of fine oak and strawberry jam, subtle hints of roasted coffee and minerals. A full, velvety sensation in the mouth gives way to a mild, sweet and enveloping finish.

Viñedos de Alfaro has 100 hectares of vineyards and a clearly defined philosophy that is the key to its success, based on the use of grapes grown only in its own vineyards, and always using the same varieties obtained from the same terroirs.

The result is unique and consistent wines with a character all of their own that reflect the local terroir and will delight even the most demanding palates.
