The 22nd edition of the El Gaitero Regatta will take place from the 1st to the 6th of August, sailing between Getxo, Santander and Gijón. The event has established itself as the most important regatta in the calendar of the northern part of Spain, as the only nautical event that crosses three autonomous regions: the Basque Country, Cantabria and Asturias, will take place.

The Regatta consists of four legs, two off-shore routes: Guecho - Santander with a distance of 42 miles, Santander - Gijón, considered the main stage not only because of the distance of 92 miles, but also because of the challenge that night sailing always represents, to finish in Gijón, with two windward-leeward stages that will be disputed during the weekend in the Bay of San Lorenzo, with a distance of approximately 15 miles.

In total, more than 150 nautical miles in four days of competition, which will bring together the best yachts from the north of the peninsula.

Organised by the Real Club Astur de Regatas de Gijón and the Real Federación Española de Vela, sponsored by El Gaitero, with the collaboration of the Real Club Marítimo del Abra-Real Sporting Club de Getxo, the Real Club Marítimo de Santander, the Grupo de Regatas de Villaviciosa, the Federación de Vela del Principado de Asturias, and the Real Asociación Nacional de Cruceros.
